NCDC confirms 64 fresh COVID-19 cases, infections rise to 1337

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control - NCDC has announced 64 fresh cases of the deadly coronavirus.

This now takes the total recorded cases in the country to 1,337, coming after the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) announced the extension of the lockdown in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun States by one week.

The NCDC made the announcement on its official Twitter account, @NCDCgov, on Monday night.

"64 new cases of #COVID19 reported," the statement read, adding that of the 64 cases, the breakdown shows "34-Lagos, 15-FCT, 11-Borno, 2-Taraba and 2-Gombe.

"As at 11:20pm 27th April- 1337 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria."

The statement also revealed that the country has recorded a total of 40 fatalities and 255 recoveries.

"One case previously reported as a Lagos State case, is now reported as an FCT case.

"The total number of confirmed cases in Lagos is now at 764 and 157 in FCT," the NCDC added.
