The Director-General of the National Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu, has reportedly gone through 14 days quarantine over suspicion of coronavirus infection.

Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, said this on Tuesday while briefing the Senate leadership on the ministry's activities to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.

He told the Senate principal officers that Ihekweazu was quarantined because he had just returned from China.

He said the standard practice was for anyone coming into Nigeria to be quarantined for 14 days before mingling with members of the public.

He also explained that the NCDC boss would remain in his house throughout the two-week period.
