The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has placed Nigerian singer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, on an international watch list after declaring him wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

This was after the rapper made a video in which he admitted to having sex with a minor in a hotel room. The video sparked outrage among Nigerians, who also unearthed other videos of the rapper to suggest that it was a habitual behaviour for him.

In response, Speed Darlington issued a statement, saying, "For the sake of clarity, I reiterate that the said Instagram video was made for purely entertainment purposes only and does not reflect any previous or future event involving my person with any female, minor or major. Sadly, what was meant to be a joke has been blown out of proportion by persons looking for fault where none exists."

MyNigeria reported that NAPTIP then invited him to appear at their office for questioning. on May 30th, 2025.

After failing to appear on the scheduled day, Speed Darlington issued a statement in which he offered to appear at the end of June 2025.

"If the agency requires further clarification, I undertake to avail myself at the agency’s office on June 26th, 2025," he said.

However, the rapper failed to turn up again, which may have informed NAPTIP's decision to declare him wanted

"Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately," NAPTIP said.

However, a video has surfaced showing Speed Darlington in the U.S. having the time of his life, almost as if the agency had never declared him wanted.

In the video, he said, "I left Lagos girls for New York Girls."

In another video, the rapper vowed never to return to Nigeria, adding that he had never committed any crime to warrant his being wanted.

Meanwhile, the agency has confirmed it has alerted the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) concerning Speed Darlington.

NAPTIP’s Chief Press Officer, Vincent Adekoye, confirmed the development to SaharaReporters on Tuesday, noting that the agency is collaborating with other law enforcement bodies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and Interpol, to apprehend the entertainer.

“We have placed all of them on procedural notice so that wherever they see him, they can take action, because we have already given him enough opportunities.

"We are working to limit his access to people, wherever he may be hiding, because he is alleged to be a dangerous individual. He has openly admitted to raping a 14-year-old girl, and as recently as yesterday, he confessed to raping a 15-year-old.

"We call on any country where he is hiding to place him under surveillance, arrest him, and hand him over to the appropriate authorities. He is alleged to be an extremely dangerous man who must be removed from society," he added.
