N160m SUV: Utterly disgraceful and disgusting act of tone-deafness on display - Ezekwesili slams Senator Karimi

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has tackled the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Services, Sunday Karimi, for defending the lawmakers decision to purchase luxury SUVs.

The lawmmakers have hinted on buying luxurious vehicles to the tune of N160 million.

This sparked an uproar as many question the move to spending such huge amount of cars.

Senator Sunday Karimi in his defence blamed the bad roads saying that Ministers are not questioned about the number of luxurious vehicle they have so why are Nigerians concerned about theirs.

"I am sure you know we have a department of procurement in the National Assembly. They did a comparative analysis of cost, durability and they came up with suggestions and we took their suggestions. That they approved a Landcruiser for us and somebody that is a Minister will have three Landcruiser, Prado and other vehicles in their convoy, and you are not asking them questions. Please spare us a bit. Go to Nigerian roads today. If I go home once to my Senatorial district, I come back spending a lot on my vehicles because our roads are bad."

In reaction to Karimi's statement, Ezekwesili described Karimi's comment as "uttterly disgraceful and disgusting act of tone-deafness".

Taking to her X page, she wrote;
