Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, the father of the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has debunks claims that his son is not Igbo.

Speculations had it that Rhodes-Vivour, the candidate of the Labour Party in the governorship election, is Igbo by tribe and an IPOB apologist likely to cede the state to the Southeast-dominated people of Nigeria.

According to Rhodes father, his son has no time for the proscribed group, Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, as widely rumoured.

Speaking during a press conference organised by the factional Afenifere and Committee of the Indigenous Lagosians on Wednesday, March 8, in Ikeja, Lagos, Olawale said:

“Gbadebo has no time for IPOB. This boy is highly educated and highly driven. We can track his record everyday in Lagos. He has no time for IPOB."

He noted that Gbadebo is passionate about change in the country especially Lagos state.

"Gbadebo is not a politician, he's an activist...at the heart of it, he's just a good man. He does alot of things he can do within the law to make sure he changes the status quo," Olawale said.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour commonly known as GRV has become a major force among his contenders in the Lagos state gubernatorial election.

Recall that the Labour Party defeated the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state during the presidential elections.

There are speculations that the governorship polls would be an avenue to completely unseat the APC's dominance in the state.
