Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen says his injuries are not as serious as was earlier predicted.
The Galatasaray star suffered a slight hamstring injury as the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup after a penalty shoot-out defeat against DR Congo. This is the second time the Super Eagles have missed out on the competition.
The 26-year-old could not continue in the second half of Nigeria’s match against Congo and was replaced by Akor Adams.
His absence was strongly felt as DR Congo took control of the game, eventually beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
Speaking to A Spor at the airport in Istanbul after the World Cup playoffs were concluded on Sunday night, Osimhen said (via Habersarikirmizi), “My injury is not very serious.”
Osimhen will hope to recover on time in order to play for Galatasaray against Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Super Lig fixture on Saturday.
He joined the Turkish Super Lig champions on a permanent transfer from Napoli during the last summer transfer window.
