'Mohbad's autopsy result to be ready in three weeks' - Director of Lagos State DNA

It has been disclosed that the autopsy performed on the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad, will be made available within the next three to four weeks.

This was revealed by Dr Richard Somiari, Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Center, during his testimony on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, during a coroner's inquest into the singer's death.

Defence attorneys cross-examined the witness throughout the inquest.

Recall that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 years old.

The Lagos State Government ordered a coroner's investigation into the singer's death as a result of the controversy his death caused both domestically and internationally.

The Ikorodu Magistrates' Court has been hosting the inquest since October 13, 2023.

“We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned.”

The public was reassured by the forensic expert that there would be sufficient security and sample monitoring for the autopsy.

He said: “We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad."

Following Mohbad's death many claimed that he did not pass away naturally believing his wife, with whom he had a son, may have played a role in his demise.

Some conjectured that Naira Marley, the late singer's former boss, might have also played a role in his demise because the two had unresolved business from the singer's time in life.

To an extent, Mohbad was physically abused by Naira and his cohorts when he was alive. These among several reasons prompted the probe into the singer's demise.
