Mixed reactions trail BBC report on late TB Joshua

Social media has gone wild following a three-part exposé by British Broadcasting Corporation's (BBC) Africa Eye on the purported secret lives of the late televangelist Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua (TB Joshua).

The more than 150-minute film, "Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua," which was released on YouTube and split into three parts, featured the video testimonies of several witnesses who made numerous serious accusations against the late prophet.

Testimonies from former followers and church employees said that the prophet had physically and mentally mistreated them into spending many years with him.

Based on such deception, the majority of them, who were primarily from South Africa, Namibia, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, claimed to have spent between 10 and 14 years in the synagogue.

The probe also looked more closely at the specifics of the building collapse on September 12, 2014, which occurred at the Joshua-owned Synagogue Church of All Nations, killing at least 116 people, the most of whom were foreigners.

In response, a number of online users expressed their dismay at the testimony and demanded a more thorough investigation into the claims.

While some expressed sadness for the deceased preacher, others accused the BBC and those included in the video of pursuing a "satanic agenda" in their attempts to damage TB Joshua's reputation.
