The Senate asked ministerial nominee, Bello Muhammad was recently struggling to answer questions relating to his academic certificates provided to the national assembly for vetting.

Bello Muhammad was among the ministerial nominees presented to the upper legislative chamber to be vetted as part of persons he selected to work under his administration.

During the screening, Allwell Onyesoh, senator representing Rivers east asked him how he entered into the university with only two credits SSCE results.

According to the senator Onyesoh who raised the concern, he searched for his school certificate and found out that what he presented was not complete.

"I was looking for your school certs, I saw one, you sat for five subjects with two credits. I don't know how? I want to imagine that you still have another to bring. If not, I will want you to explain how you got into university with that."

In response, Bello Muhammad who struggled to defend the certificates presented to the national assembly said he had other documents where he passed all subjects but did not attach the qualifications to his CV.

“I want to remind the distinguished senator which I know he very much knows that with the qualification of secondary school certificate as enshrined in the constitution, we can stand for an election up to the presidential election.” “So, I didn’t bother you with such certificates. But I know those are the qualifications for that,” he said.

The Senate President, Godwill Akpabio, who was not pleased with his response, cautioned him and other nominees, to ensure they provide all the available documents to the national assembly.

He insisted that Bello Muhammad should ensure the certificates are circulated.

Akpabio said; "It’s not just for this nominee, it is important for all other nominees to know that we will like to know something about them in totality including the number of children they have, number of wives, Nigerians have a right to know their ministers, the international committees have the right to know their ministers. so, please you don't choose and pick. We will give the nominee time to bring the other certificates to circulate but not necessarily appearing again before us."
