Ministerial List: Former Minister makes unusual prediction ahead of grilling of nominess

Former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe has predicted a smooth screening process of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Ministerial nominees by the National Assembly on Monday, July 31 (today).

Speaking on the candidates who are likely to go through a lengthy grilling process by the National Assembly, the former minister opined that he believes none of the 28 nominees will experiece a tough time during the exercise.

He believes that the nominees are party representatives who have been cleared by the party and the security agents.

He added that the current state of the country will not warrant any lenghty probe of ministerial appointees.

The former minister made the disclosure in an exclusive interview on Channels TV's Politics Today Show on Sunday night.

“I don't think there will be any need for that[grilling of nominees], these are party representatives who have been cleared by the party, they have been cleared by security agents, the National Assembly have very little to do.

“The situation in the country my not warrant lengthy talking. We need people to be ministers, so that the country can move forward. It is going to be a smooth exercise for everybody that is my prediction.”

The Senate on Thursday, July 27 unveiled 28 ministerial appointees by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Notable among these names were former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, former governor of Kaduna State, Rufai El-Nassir, former Governor of Ebonyi State ,David Umahi.

In the breakdown, 75 percent of President Tinubu's initial appointees were males while the female appointees made up the remaining 25 percent.

Also, four of the appointees are former governors, with two appointees as sitting civil lawmakers.

The President is set to announce his second batch of ministerial nominess in the coming days.
