Mikel Obi sparks controversy, claims it will be unfair for Modric, Kroos, Carvajal, and Nacho to win 5 UCL titles

Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has dropped a bombshell with his latest comments on Real Madrid quartet Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal, and Nacho Fernandez.

Los Blancos will be gunning for their 15th UEFA Champions League title when they take on Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in the UCL final on June 1.

A win would guarantee Modric, Kroos, Carvajal, and Nacho their fifth UCL title, a feat former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi believes is unfair.

The former Nigerian international contends that the quartet are not the greatest players in their positions, and that the trophies they have won can be misleading.

“When you see players like Kroos, Nacho, Carvajal, and Modric getting 5 UCL trophies, it’s a bit unfair because these players are not even close to being the greatest in their positions,” Mikel said.

“It shows that trophies can be misleading. I can name 10 players in the same positions who are greater than these players.”

Following this comment, Mikel has thrown his weight behind Borussia Dortmund to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

“To be honest with you, I really hope that Borussia Dortmund wins the UCL final. They deserve it more than Real Madrid.”
