A former Commandant of the Defence Intelligence College, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi (Rtd) says he doesn't trust the current crop of governors to succeed in securing the lives and properties of citizens in their respective states.

The retired military officer in an interview on Arise Television on Monday, March 25 said the only Governor he believes has the zeal to protect the lives of citizens in his state is Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.

His comments come as the search continues for the killers of 16 officers and soldiers at the Okuama community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State.

He singled out Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori for allowing the massacre to occur.

Commodore Olawunmi while engaging co-host Rufai Oseni asked the presenter to identify a governor who has shown the zeal to tackle insecurity at the state level.

"I don't trust the governors. Not only the Delta State Governor but all of them. I think the only person I can trust is Zulum of Borno State. I don't want to talk about those governors because they don't even know why they are the chief security officers of a state - they don't even know," he said.

"All they do is share money and do things so I don't want to talk about them. The governors are not competent and do not have the capacity."

"Mention any of them that has the capacity or is competent or that is there because of the interest of the people."

"Mention one! I have mentioned Zulum. So don't let us talk about them."
