The long arm of the law has caught up with a blood-thirsy young man who in the late hours of Christmas eve made for a hotel, ostensibly with the sole aim to spill blood.

Currently in police net, the 32-year-old suspect, Toheeb Akanji (aka T.cash), a refridgerator and air-conditional technician, allegedly armed himself with a knife and went to Blue Roof Hotel in Adiyan Gasline, Ogun State and, according to a police press statement, heartlessly stabbed one Damilare Babatunde Oladipupo to death.

The suspect was said to had gone to the hotel on a vengeance mission over the beating and injuring of one his 'boys', but was accosted by the victim, who was probably protecting his hotelier-friend's business, an action considered as an affront by Toheeb.

This lead to fisticuffs and the eventual stabbing of 42-year-old Babatunde (aka No Story) to death.

The victim, said to be a member of a transport union, fought back but was subdued by the knife-wielding opponent, who stabbed him severally on the face, chest and arms.

Even though the late Damilare succeeded in disarming his assailant of the deadly knife and the cardigan he wore to the scene, this made no much impact, as his killer's intention had been accomplished; he did not survive the wicked act.

He was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital he was rushed to.

After committing the alleged heinous crime, the assailant bolted, an incident that was reported to the Agbado Police Division by one Oluomo, spurring the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Kehinde Kuranga, to race to the scene with his team of detectives, during which a case of wilful and calculated murder was established.

The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, was upset by the information and gave a marching order that the suspect be hunted for and brought to book within 24 hours, a directive that the DPO and his men worked on, and embarked on an intelligence-based investigation that led to the arrest of Toheeb at about 5p.m the next day, Saturday December, 25, 2021, being Christmas day.

According to a press release issued by the command's spokesman (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, "On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the killing but, blamed it on the devil's handiwork. He stated that he went to the hotel to find out who beat and injured one of his boys, but on getting there, the deceased accosted him and picked up fight with him. It was then he brought out the knife he came with and stabbed him.

"Meanwhile, CP Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and diligent prosecution", the PPRO stated.
