Report indicates that a man recently slumped and died by the roadside in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, on Tuesday, April 11.

According to reports, the yet to be identified man who is believed to be in his early 60s was walking by the road at Rumuigbo Junction area of Obio-Akpor, when he suddenly fell to the ground.

An eyewitness noted that the man fell and struggled to stand up but was unable.

The source who spoke to Vanguard, noted that the passersby who gathered around the man resorted to taking photographs of the man rather than helping him.

“This afternoon, the man was walking by the roadside. Later he fell down. Some people gathered around him. He was struggling to stand up but couldn't. He later died,” she explained.

“Nobody knew him. People were afraid to touch him because if police come now they may arrest you for questioning. So nobody wanted problem. The man died there.”

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said that investigation into the death of the man is ongoing.
