Nollywood actress, Damilola Oni, has raised concerns over persistent online harassment, revealing that she frequently receives explicit messages and unsolicited images from male followers.
The actress known for her curvy figure disclosed this during an interview uploaded on Oyinmomo TV on Saturday, where she spoke about her career and personal experiences in the entertainment industry.
According to her, the situation has become a disturbing routine, particularly on social media, where male fans sexualise her due to her body type.
“Early in the morning, when I open my Instagram, men will send me their manhood, saying ‘I am everything you need, baby.’ All sorts of messages are in my inbox from different men, including elderly men,” she said.
She added that some individuals go as far as making inappropriate confessions about how they engage with her content.
“Some will even say they watched me on TV and used me for self-gratification,” she stated.
Speaking further, Oni said she is currently single and reflected on the challenges within the entertainment industry, noting that visibility often outweighs talent.
“I am very single. From time, the loud ones excel more than the talented. You have to spice it up because that’s what will make you relevant. People that are supposed to excel and become famous are not the ones we hear about,” she said.
The actress also recounted a difficult experience on a movie set, where she was allegedly dropped from a lead role due to a colleague’s refusal to work with her.
“Someone said he could never work with me and I didn’t offend the person. I was on set for more than eight hours waiting for a lead role,” she said.
Oni explained that the producer later informed her of the situation and offered her a minor role instead, but she refused to be upset so it won’t be interpreted as defeat.
“The producer said he had to choose and couldn’t pick me, but offered me another role with fewer scenes. I was sad, but I decided to stay and do the job.
“I won’t leave because of anyone. Nobody can send me away from this industry,” she said.
Despite the setbacks and online harassment, the actress maintained that she remains determined to succeed in the industry.
