'Makes so much sense, twins in wickedness' - Reactions as Tinubu, Ghana's Prez celebrate birthdays

Social media is in a frenzy following the commemoration of the birthdays of two influential African leaders, President Bola Tinubu and Ghana's President Akufo-Addo on Friday, March 29, 2024.

As both countries celebrate their leaders it's a rare occasion of mutual happiness between the neighbours who are often at odds over football, music, and jollof rice.

Prez Akufo-Addo, who was born on March 29, 1944, is celebrating his 80th birthday today, while Tinubu turns 72-years-old.

After completing his legal studies in the UK, Akufo-Addo was admitted to the Middle Temple Bar in England in 1971 and the Ghanaian Bar in 1975.

Tinubu majored in accounting and graduated from Chicago State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Honors.

Akufo-Addo served his first tenure as president when he won the 2016 general elections after a fierce battle with former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In 2020, Akufo-Addo was reelected.

In contrast to Tinubu, who won the presidency on his first try, Akufo-Addo failed two times until luck befell him on his third attempt in 2016.

Both presidents are currently serving crucial terms; Nigeria is dealing with serious economic difficulties and an alarming number of kidnappings, and Akufo-Addo is embroiled in a dispute over a measure that would discriminate against the LGBT community among other issues.

The two presidents have received congratulatory and goodwill messages as they celebrate their birthdays today.

Conversely, some have made fun of the two leaders for their different policies and the awful state of affairs in their countries.
