Following the happenings across the three states holding the off-cycle governorship election, Nigerians have tackled the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu for failing to ensure the November 11 poll was free and fair.

On Saturday, INEC held governorship election in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi states to elect new leaders for the next for years.

However, in some polling units, there were several complaints from residents who raised alarm of violence, ballot box snatching of which some were shot and killed by security operatives, pre-filled results sheet, massive thumb printing by certain party officials, vote buying and many more.

Videos and photos of these incidents began to circulate, with many Nigerians calling out Mahmood Yakubu for not fulfilling his promise to conduct a transparent election the second time.

Recall that the above incidents were all reported during the 2023 presidential election held on February 25 and March 18 election respectively.

As a result, INEC announced that it had learnt from the previous election and would ensure a better poll is held.

However, some Nigerians displeased by the turn of events on Saturday, took to social media to slam the INEC Chairman.

Below are some reactions;

@GreatMichael1: Shame on Mahmood Yakubu

@ujanazodo: A big disgrace!

@kraftikelz: Yakubu taking Nigeria 200 years back. Smh

@ArchitectPh: If Mahmood can collect his own at the notional level, why won’t his cronies at state level collect theirs. Election in Nigeria is a do or die affair in Nigeria….only the highest bidder survives it

@Samuel24393246: Criminal Yakubu Mahmoud

@EtinosaAnthony: This is just appalling

@khriistmaaxz: Mahmood Yakubu is a fraudster.

@SROkeke: What a rhetorical question? The question of handling the nation was long answered February 25 and March 18. It is sad and painful. The plan is to get Nigerians frustrated so they give up on Nigeria. For me, the harder the press, the greater my hope for a sane and working Nigeria

@BetyluvE: He's a fraudster and a big disgrace

@drip_emma: Did he handle the nation in the general election, someone who rigged the presidential election what other election can he not rig
