Afrobeats megastar Davido and Africa's richest man, industrialist Aliko Dangote, made a high-profile joint appearance in New York's Times Square to unveil a massive digital billboard campaign promoting the historic Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO).
In video clips shared by Davido on his Instagram story, the pair stood side-by-side near the iconic Nasdaq tower display, which showcased the bold slogan: "Made in Nigeria. Built for the World."
Dressed in formal suits, the two public figures waved to onlookers and signaled thumbs-up gestures as a crowd gathered to capture the moment at the intersection of global finance and commerce.
The activation serves as a major international marketing push for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO, which opened on September 14, 2026, and runs through October 13, 2026. Dubbed Africa’s largest IPO, the $1.6 billion public offering seeks to raise capital by listing 4.1 billion shares at ₦525 per share on the Nigerian Exchange.
The public pairing also highlights a long-standing personal bond. Davido has previously described Dangote as a close family friend and godfather figure who drove his mother home from the hospital following his birth and has served as a personal mentor throughout his music career.
The viral footage generated widespread celebration across social media, with fans and business observers praising the collaboration as a proud moment for West African representation on the global stage.
Located in the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos, Nigeria, the 650,000 barrels-per-day Dangote Petroleum Refinery is the largest single-train refinery in the world. The ongoing IPO aims to democratize equity ownership among retail and institutional investors across Africa.
