MTN Nigeria grants NCDC, health agencies N1.4 billion worth of airtime and data

Telecommunication giant, MTN Nigeria has granted over N1.4 billion worth of airtime, data and devices to support frontline health agencies including the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

In a notice filed by the telecommunications firm to the Nigerian Bourse, MTN unveiled a Y'ello Hope Package to address the impact of COVID-19 in the country.

The Y'ello Hope Package was divided into four sections which include: Supporting government's response efforts; connecting medical personnel; connecting customers with essential health information and making it easier to stay in touch and support each other.

Apart from supporting the health personnel, it also offered N500 million worth of airtime through the Nigerian Governor's Forum to support State Governments in facilitating communication during travel restrictions.

It promised to grant free daily data access to its subscribers as well as 300 free SMS per month to help them communicate with their loved ones.

It noted that pressure has mounted on its network to grow rapidly and promised to meet demand by growing its capacity where it is most needed.
