Lookman goes AWOL, snubs Atalanta's training amid transfer tensions

Nigerian international Ademola Lookman reportedly skipped training on Monday, August 4, signaling his intention to leave Atalanta this summer.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year has become the center of a transfer storm in the Italian media after expressing his desire to depart the club.

Tensions escalated following Atalanta’s rejection of a €45 million bid from Inter Milan for the 27-year-old forward.

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has made it clear that the club is unwilling to sell Lookman to a domestic rival in Serie A.

Incensed by the club’s stance, Lookman reportedly refused to attend training, as revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Ademola Lookman didn’t show up for training today as he keeps insisting on his plan to leave Atalanta. Atalanta maintains their position. No way to let him go for €42m plus €3m proposal rejected last week. No fresh bid from Inter so far,” Romano shared.

Meanwhile, Atalanta are holding out for an additional €5 million, raising the asking price to €50 million before they will consider finalizing Lookman’s move to the Nerazzurri.
