The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has called out Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, for allegedly inciting his followers to threaten the life of APC spokesman Felix Morka.

Ganduje believed that Obi lied by claiming that Morka issued death threats against him and his family during an interview.

On Monday, January 6, 2025, Peter Obi took to social media to announce that he had been receiving death threats and that Felix Morka claimed he had crossed the line with his criticisms against President Bola Tinubu’s administration and would face the consequences.

Morka said, “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times, and he has what’s coming to him. Whatever he gets, he should manage it.”

Obi questioned whether he had “really crossed the line” after allegedly facing threats to his life, family, and associates from Morka.

In response, Morka clarified that Obi had quoted him out of context and that he never threatened Obi’s life.

Reacting to the issue, Ganduje described Obi’s claims as unfortunate and misleading. In a statement he personally signed, the APC Chairman stated that Obi’s claims smack of mischief and outright falsehood.

Ganduje said, “By falsely claiming that Morka threatened his life, Obi has libeled Morka in the extreme and incited his online supporters to issue death threats against Morka and his family.”

The APC leader noted that Obi had a responsibility to provide accurate and truthful information rather than spreading falsehood, which he believes undermines public trust.

“Morka’s comments during the interview were strictly in response to a question referencing ‘prophets of doom’ and ‘voodoo economics.’ Nothing in his statement constituted or suggested a threat to Obi or anyone else.”

Ganduje further called on Obi to refrain from misinformation and to accept criticism as part of the democratic process.

“Does Mr. Obi expect the APC to fold its arms and allow the opposition to propagate falsehoods without any response?” Ganduje queried.
