The moment FCT Minister Nyesom Wike asked popular journalist Seun Akinbaloye to put down his mobile phone and listen to him when he spoke has emerged.
The former Rivers State governor was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, October 8.
While addressing the violence in the state before, during, and after the local council elections, he paused speaking and told the host Seun Akibaloye to listen to him. "Seun, leave your phone and listen to me," he said.
Seun responded by saying he was listening to the PDP Chieftain but also had to respond to some messages on his cell phone. Wike continued immediately afterward.
He emphasized that for peace to reign in the state, Siminalayi Fubara must follow the rule of law.
“There is peace when you obey the rule of law. There is peace when you obey court judgments,” the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said.
The state has made headlines in recent months due to a feud between Wike and Fubara. The dispute escalated some days back in the lead-up and aftermath of the local government elections in the state.
A court verdict had mandated the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) not to provide security for the election. It also instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to release the voter register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for the exercise.
