Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, has strongly criticized Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following his recent appeal to United States President Donald Trump regarding the upcoming Osun State governorship election.

Davido had publicly urged Trump and the broader international community to keep a close watch on the poll, raising concerns over potential violence, voter intimidation, and electoral interference.

According to a report by legit.ng, Afegbua, reacting to the singer's comments during a press briefing in Benin City, dismissed Davido's involvement in political affairs, describing his plan to write to the US President as "arrant nonsense".

Afegbua advised the musician to step away from politics and instead remain in the studio to focus on crafting quality music capable of winning a Grammy Award.

“Davido, who should be in the studio to record good music, has become a politician. It was arrant nonsense to threaten to write to Trump. You can imagine what people will do when it comes to democracy. The fact is that Adeleke is a dancer. Governance is serious business," he said.

Defending Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo’s involvement in campaigning for the All Progressives Congress candidate in Osun, Afegbua stressed that governance is a serious endeavor and supported his party's push to secure votes for a "serious-minded" candidate.

He also addressed a viral online post alleging to show Okpebholo’s academic record, dismissing the document as fake and asserting that he has personally seen the governor's genuine results confirming his Master’s degree.

"The result posted online is fake. I have seen the Governor's authentic result with which he had a Master's degree. Adeleke got F9 in his result. There is no harm in having a dancer as a Governor. Is he not a dancer? We are looking for votes from Osun. We are telling them to vote for serious-minded people," Afegbua said.

Rounding off his remarks, the commissioner aimed a swipe at Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, questioning his leadership credentials by describing him as a "dancer" while expressing firm optimism that the APC would claim victory at the polls on Saturday.
