Senator Kashamu Buruji might be dead but his name is still making waves weeks after his unfortunate demise.

In a video that has become a topic of discussion on social media, the late senator can be heard in a telephone conversation pleading for forgiveness from billionaire businessman, Chief Kessington Adebutu, shortly before his death.

According to the conversation, Kashamu placed the call to Chief Adebutu from his hospital bed seeking forgiveness over what he said was a bad business deal.

Kashamu was reported to have died of coronavirus, however, his wife debunked the claims.

Chief Adebutu said he accepted his apologies but encouraged Kashamu to withdraw all the lawsuits he filed against him to show he is serious in his bid to seek for forgiveness.

Nigerians on social media are torn apart in the wake of the video surfacing online. While some believe the video does not honour the memory of the late senator, others say the recent revelation breaks the code of privacy.

Some social media users are also of the opinion that the deceased senator was a good man for seeking for forgiveness from someone who he felt he had offended before his death.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, reacting to the death of Kashamu stated that the lawmaker maneuvered the law to escape justice but couldn't escape death.

“Senator Buruji Kashamu in his lifetime used the maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

“But no legal, political, cultural, social, or even medical maneuver could stop the cold hand of death when the Creator of all of us decides that the time is up.

“May Allah forgive his sin and accept his soul into Aljanah, and may God grant his family and friends fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.
