Lagos hospital shuts down after two staff tested positive for COVID-19

A popular Lagos hospital, Vedic Lifecare, has been closed off after two of its staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The virus found its way into the facility located in Lekki after they admitted a patient who later tested positive for the virus.

After two of Vedic Lifecare staff members tested positive for the virus, the hospital is now conducting tests for other staff members and disinfection of the facility, hence the closure.

In the statement released by the hospital's management via its official Twitter handle on Monday, all persons who have visited the facility in the last ten days have been advised to get test and stay isolated.

The statement reads: "Dear Customers and visitors, approx 10 days ago. We had admitted a patient who was later tested positive for COVID-19 after he was discharged. We also had 2 staff members who tested positive yesterday evening.

"The patient and our staff are now being managed by the NCDC at their Isolation centre. Till this moment they do not show any symptoms.

"All staff members have been maintaining mandatory PPE gear since the last 25 days.

"The facility is currently closed off for decontamination of the building. The fumigation was already carried out by the NCDC on 18th April.

"We are currently testing the remain staff members and will continue to update everyone on all platforms.

"If you have visited the hospital In the lasts days we request you to get tested and stay Isolated."
