Jennifer, the lady fined N450k by a Magistrate Court sitting in Lagos for refusing to turn up after one Emmanuel sent her transportation fee, has narrated her side of the story.
Emmanuel, who was disappointed when she refused to turn up after receiving a transport fare of N50,000, dragged her to court to seek redress.
The court, after hearing both sides, issued an order to Jennifer to pay N450,000 to Emmanuel, which she now claims she has paid.
In a video on social media, Jennifer revealed that she never intended to ghost Emmanuel after receiving the money. According to her, the sum was not enough to facilitate her journey to his place.
She said, "Emmanuel sent me money for transportation that he wanted to see me. But Emmanuel is a friend I met online, and I don't really know him; I've never met him in person. Before Emmanuel sent me that money for transportation, I told him that he should come over to my city. He said no, that he cannot visit a woman...blah blah blah... that he wants me to come. So, he kept telling me he wanted me to come, and I told him that I couldn't visit a man I didn't really know and had never met before.
"Out of the blue, he just... You know, some of you men are very stupid and crazy but let me just keep that part. Out of the blue, this guy just set me N50,000 with a text message saying 'this is your transportation, I want to see you tomorrow.' You are doing Fan Meal for me with N50,000. Where will it take me to? Mind you, this guy stays in Abuja, me I stay in Asaba."
She said she ignored him and refused to reply to the message.
"The next day, when he was expecting me to come, he sent me a message saying, 'Why are you not here yet?' Can you imagine? I didn't reply to the message," she said.
She said she started getting calls and threats from people, perhaps his friends, whom he must have given her phone number to.
"So when I started getting these threats, I then reached out to him that I'm no longer comfortable with what is going on, that he should send me his account number, let me forward the money to him," Jennifer said.
She said he flared up and started sending him lots of messages with words she refused to share because of how denigrating they were. She said she then invited him over since he wasn't willing to send her his account number so she could refund his money.
Turning on her male critics, she said their comments against her reflect how dumb they are.
She added, "The whole case has been sorted out. I gave him the N450,000. Obviously, it's nothing to me. That was why I was surprised when he sent me N50,000 for transport."
Turning ong guys who expressed excitement at Emmanuel's action, Jennifer said, "I know that this is the new strategy you guys want to be using to extort women, but we are equal to the task."
