Getafe manager José Bordalás has praised Christantus Uche following his stellar performance against Celta Vigo in their Spanish La Liga opener last weekend.

The Super Eagles midfielder starred as Getafe secured a crucial 2–0 victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday, August 16, to kick off their new La Liga campaign on a blistering note.

Uche assisted Adrián Liso for Getafe's first goal in the 47th minute, after the first 45 minutes ended in a goalless draw.

The Nigerian international doubled Getafe's lead 25 minutes later with a fine assist to give Los Azulones a two-goal cushion.

In a post-match presser, Bordalás showered praise on Uche and noted that his performance doesn't come as a surprise to him, judging from what he did the previous season.

“He's our player. We have complete confidence in him and all his teammates, the team in general,” Bordalás said as per Spanish outlet Marca.

“For Uche to shine, his teammates have had to put in a huge effort. It doesn't surprise us because he already did it last season. Uche is a Getafe player, and we have confidence that he'll be with us.”

Getafe will take on Sevilla in their next La Liga clash next week.
