Hours after the APC delegate slumped and died another person collapses

Hours after one of the Jigawa State All Progressive Congress (APC) delegates, Isah Baba-Buji slumped and died while getting ready to attend the presidential primary election of the ruling party, an unidentified individual has collapsed at the venue of the APC convention.

MyNigeria learned that following the incident on Wednesday morning, the person received medical attention. However, it is unclear if the individual has shrugged off the frailty.

16 million Nigerians supporting me - Gov Bello

Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello has said over 16 million Nigerians are supporting him to be President.

He said as Governor, he has succeeded in addressing the problem of Insecurity in Kogi State.

He said: “We have not come this far to chicken out. We are here to win.

“I am here to build on the legacy of Buhari and confident of being the man to defeat PDP in the general election

“Don’t make the mistake of not voting for me. Over 16 million are supporting me. I will win the general election before 2.00 pm.”

Bello said if nominated as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, he will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar within two hours on the election day.

I will not step down for anyone says Pastor Tunde Bakare

One of the presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has vowed to transform Nigeria if elected.

Unlike other candidates, Bakare did not step down for any aspirant.

Instead, he expressed confidence in becoming Nigeria’s next president.

Fayemi withdraws, pledges support for Tinubu

Ekiti State Governor and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi has stepped down from the presidential race of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He joins past minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Goodwill Akpabio and former Governor of Ogun State and serving senator, Ibikunle Amosun who had earlier withdrawn.

Former Governor of Ogun State and serving senator, Ibikunle Amosun joined Akpabio as he announced he will step down in his pursuit of the candidacy of the APC.

Goodswill Akpabio steps down for Bola Tinubu

Past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Goodwill Akpabio has withdrawn from the presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akpabio while addressing party faithful and members at the convention currently ongoing in Abuja, announced that he will be stepping down for Tinubu.

He called on the president and Party members to vote for Tinubu adding that he is a great man who has a good plan for Nigeria.

Legendary musician, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters popularly known as Shina Peters delivered an electrifying performance at the presidential convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Eagles Square in Abuja.

Consultations for southwest consensus candidate ongoing – Sanwo-Olu - 19:04 pm

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said the consultations are still ongoing for a consensus candiate for the SouthWest.

He further noted that shocking announcements could come up later before the voting begins.

Sanwo-Olu spoke in a live interview with Channels TV at the primary ground in Abuja monitored by The Nation.

He said the region has array of quality aspirants who believe they have the right qualities to rule the country.

He said: “It has been a very difficult task for us, and all of them (aspirants) believe that they’ve something, they’ve the qualities of running this country. Not up to two or three hours ago, we were all consulting.

“You know in politics, never say never. Things can begin to happen right here later tonight. We’ve had extensive consultations and we’ve given everybody fair hearing. We are just looking around it for peace and equity.

“That conversation is still ongoing. It doesn’t end until when ballot papers are distributed. People can come up and make announcement…I don’t know. I’m not an aspirant, but it is never say never.”

Tunde Bakare, a presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Pastor is confident h will win the has party’s presidential ticket.

He described himself as the number 16 President, stating number 15, which is President Muhammadu Buhari, must help him to emerge.

Just In: Jigawa APC delegate slumps, dies in Abuja

Alhaji Isah Baba Buji, a delegate from Jigawa has died while attending the presidential primary of the party in Abuja.

The reports say he slumped and died of suspected heart failure on Tuesday morning at Jigawa State Liason Office in Abuja.

Prior to his death, he was the Assistant APC chairman in charge of Jigawa central zone.

He reportedly slumped while preparing to go to Eagle Square, venue of the primary with other delegates from the State.

Aspirants reportedly trimmed to two

Senator Kabiru Gaya representing Kano South has said there are ongoing efforts to reduce the list of proposed presidential aspirants to two.

He made the disclosure on the evening of Tuesday that the contest is between Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo.

Gaya spoke in a live interview with Channels TV at the primary ground in Abuja monitored by The Nation.

Police teargas journalists at Eagle Square

There are reports that the police have teargassed some accredited journalists who were trying to access the venue.

The incident happened at the entrance gate facing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka however apologized to the journalists before assisting them to gain access into the square.

EFCC operatives storm Eagle Square - 3:59 pm

Some operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) just arrived at Eagles Square, the venue for the convention.

They arrived the Eagle Square around 3.30pm and were seen walking round in a group.

The anti- graft agency was also at the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governors reduce presidential aspirants to three - 15:20 pm

Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have further slashed the number of proposed presidential aspirants to three.

Recall, the governors in the early hours of Tuesday proposed a five-man list of aspirants to President Muhammadu Buhari to consider for consensus.

The names which were initially proposed were Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Rotimi Amaechi; Governor Kayode Fayemi and Governor Dave Umahi.

But according to the reports, the list has been pruned to three with Tinubu, Osibanjo and Amaechi making the proposed list.

Tinubu’s loyalists protest delegates’ list - 15:00pm

Loyalists of Governor Tinubu have warned the party against bias. This comes after they accused the APC leadership of replacing the names of a number of delegates.

Prominent among the supporters was Segun Dada, who sought to become the national youth leader at the March convention.

Aide describes Fayemi's withdrawal as fake news - 14:00pm

Dr. Kayode Fayemi is still in the race according to Yinka Oyebode, Special Adviser to Ekiti state governor. This follows reports that his principal has withdrawn from the race.

However responding to enquires, Oyebode said Fayemi remains the leading aspirant in the race.

He said “that is fake news. Nothing like that.

“Dr Kayode Fayemi is a leading aspirant in the race and looks good to win the contest.”

Seven APC presidential aspirants reject Govs list - 13:54 pm

Reports reaching our desk indicate seven aspirants of the party have rejected the five aspirant list which was proposed by the governors to President Buhari.

The aspirants in a statement on Tuesday following a meeting distanced themselves from the list.

The aspirants include Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade; former Minister for State for Education Emeka Nwajiuba; former Minister for Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; former Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha and businessman Tein Jack-Rich.

They claimed that they were not consulted before the governors arrived at the decision

Describing the whole exercise as shambolic and failed attempt to sideline other aspirants, particularly those from the South-East and South-South regions, the aspirants rallied support for the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.

The statement reads: “In the past few hours we have been bombarded with calls and messages from my supporters and concerned Nigerians on a list of five Presidential aspirants submitted to President Buhari to choose from.

“As long as we are concerned no list has been submitted to Mr. President, the move by the Governors is considered a joke taken to the extreme with the aim of playing with the intellect of Nigerians particularly us from the South-East.

Buhari, Gov Bello meet over APC presidential primary - 13:00 pm

President Buhari is reported to be in a meeting with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Yahaya Bello. The meeting is currently happening at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Kogi Governor is among 23 aspirants vying for the presidential ticket.

Bello was seen in a vrial video storming out of a meeting following a decision by APC Governors from the north that power should shift to the south.

The agenda of the meeting between the President and the Governor was not made known but there is an insinuation that Bello may discuss his decision on whether he will step down or not with the President.

Kwara delegates warming up for Tinubu - 11:25 am

There is excitement among Kwara State delegates about the proposal by the governors that five should contest the primary.

The delegates, who are rooting for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, reiterated their commitment to the aspiration of the former Lagos State governor.

A delegate said: "May Allah bless our indefatigable governor, AbdulRasaq, who is not a noise maker. Under his leadership and direction, we are supporting our highly esteemed National Leader, who has been preaching peace and reconciliation in Kwara. He loves us. We are going to Eagle Square to pay him back with love. May Allah bless our governor. May Allah bless Asiwaju.”

Journalists yet to be accreditated - 11:20 am

Journalists designed to cover the congress of the APC are yet to be accredited at 11:20 am.

Scenes at the Eagles Square shows scores of journalist unattended to as the others were denied access to the venue.

At the time of filing this report, it was not clear why the Media and Publicity were yet to release the accreditation tags.

According to the program of events, the exercise was supposed to kick off at 10 am with the arrival of National Delegates.

Media houses that nominated their staff to cover the event had written letters two weeks ago on the directive of the party.

Lagos APC delegates undergo accreditation 10:15 am

A video that has been widely circulated shows delegates of the ruling party in Lagos in a queue at the grounds of the congress.

APC release program line-up for Presidential Primary - 10 am

The highly anticipated presidential primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is scheduled to begin in a few hours.

Hosted at the Eagles Square in Abuja, voting for the parties presidential candidates by the delegates will commence at 6 pm and the expected winner at 10 pm according to a program lone-up making the rounds on social media.

According to the timetable of the convention, the address of welcome will be delivered by the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, at 3:40 pm. The presidential hopefuls will be allowed to deliver their remarks between 4:45 pm and 5:45pm.

President Buhari will then deliver his speech at 5:45 pm and delegates to begin immediately after that.

About 2,322 delegates from the 36 states and the FCT are expected to vote. The northern region has 1,254 delegates while the southern region has 1,068 delegates.

The north-west has 558 delegates, south-west 411; north-central 360; north-east 336, south-south 372, while the South-East has 285, the least number of delegates.

Lawan missing as Govs submit names of 5 presidential aspirants to Buhari - 7 am

Governors who are members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) are reported to have submitted the names of five aspirants to President Muhammadu Buhari to select a consensus candidate.

According to the Daily Trust, the names were submitted by the governors in the early hours of Tuesday, June 7.
