LG imposes curfew as hoodlums kill one in Plateau

One person was on Thursday confirmed killed in Quanpan Local Government Area of Plateau following a crisis that erupted in the area.

An 18-seater bus belonging to the Plateau State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists and another car were set ablaze during the incident.

It was learnt that some journalists who were inside the bus heading to Jos after a function in the council area however escaped unhurt alongside the Senator representing Plateau South, Nora Daduut, and others in her convoy.

A resident of Quanpan, Moses Dashe, confirmed the killing to The PUNCH in Jos on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Quanpan Local Government Area of the state has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in a bid to prevent the situation from escalating.

The Secretary of the Council Area, Gideon Dashe,  announced the  curfew  in a statement on Thursday night.

The statement read, “Following a review of security breaches in Namu on Thursday April 28, 2022, the authorities of Quaan Pan Local Government Council of Plateau State, hereby impose a dusk to dawn curfew in Namu town and its environs with immediate effect.

“By this announcement, citizens of the area are expected to remain indoors, until further notice while security operatives have been mandated to take charge of the town.

“Citizens are advised to remain law abiding and avoid any action(s) that will cause further breaches.”
