LASG blame fire incidents on residents

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Government has blamed the spate of fire incidents occurring around the state on the residents.

This comment was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins.

Bamgbose-Martins who inspected the scene of the fire incident at Martins Street, Lagos Island, attributed the frequency of fire incidents to the irresponsible practice of some residents who have refused to desist from the practice of storing combustible materials such as PMS (Petrol) and PKO (Diesel).

He warned that anyone caught storing such flammables in residential or office buildings will, henceforth, be sanctioned in line with the provision of the law.

The Commissioner disclosed that the State Government also resolved to bring down defective buildings across the State in order to prevent further loss of lives.
