Movie producer and director Kunle Afolayan has put to bed rumours of a competition with his colleague, actor Ibrahim Chatta.
Both men currently run film villages in Oyo, which has led to rumours that they are in competition to be the forerunners of such establishments in Nollywood.
However, during a movie premiere, Afolayan expressed support for Chatta's efforts in the industry and urged others to do the same.
He said, There's no competition. We are not even doing the same thing and this is the first time he's going to come here, even though I've invited him severally. But I'm guilty too. But today, we are both doing everything to uphold the glory of not just our ancestors, but also our lineage and roots.
"There's Africhatta in Oyo. If you haven't been there, you should go there. The majority of the films you have seen, such as Ageshinkole, were shot at Africhatta Resort and Film Studio. There's no competition."
Afolayan also stated that he's not interested in the race to make a movie that will shatter box office records, but will leave him still not satisfied financially.
He said, "I want to thank you very much for coming. This means a lot. I will continue to say it: there is no competition. I don't want two billion in the cinema and even one billion, which I won't even be able to take 10 million out of."
