Kogi student nabbed for illegal possession of firearms

A National Diploma 2 student of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Shehu Tenimu Mohammed has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for illegal possession of firearms and unlawful association.

He was sentenced by the Magistrate Court in the Kogi State Capital after he was caught on Friday, April 19, 2021, with five rounds of live ammunition and a locally fabricated revolver, while trying to get through the main entrance of the school.

The good security network put in place by the school management made his arrest successful.

Mohammed pleaded guilty to the charges of possession of firearms, being a member of a cult group, and unlawful association and was fined the total sum of N8,000.

The prosecuting lawyer, Samuel Ikutanwa, had asked that the charges should be read to his hearing.
