Kogi Decides: Military intercepts ‘unidentified’ vehicles, arrests occupants

As the off-cycle governorship elections is currently underway in Kogi state, it has been reported that three unidentified black Land Cruisers have been intercepted by the military special forces on election duty.

According to report, the military operatives intercepted the vehicles on Saturday morning, November 11, at Itakpe Junction, en route to Okene area of the state.

The government had announced that there would be restriction of vehicular movement in the state from 12 midnight on Friday to 6pm Saturday to enable voters exercise their constitutional rights in a bid to elect a new governor.

The three vehicles and their occupants were suspected by the military and arrested.

The Kogi state election is currently been held in 3,508 polling units spread across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The LGAs included Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina, Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela/Odolu, Ijumu, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi, Lokoja, Mopamuro, Ofu, Ogori-Magongo, Okene, Okehi, Olamaboro, Omala, Yagba-East, and Yagba-West.

Some of the candidates battling for the governorship seat includes; APC’s Usman Ododo, PDP’s Dino Melaye, SDP’s Muri Ajaka, ADC’s Leke Abejide, LP’s Adejo Okeme, ZLP’s Fatima Suleiman.
