A spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, Dino Melaye has revealed that Governor Nyesom Wike who is against his governorship bid in Kogi was once his biggest supporter.

Dino, a key member of the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign organization has thrown his hat in the ring to contest the governorship election in Kogi.

The election is slated for November 15.

Reacting to comments by Wike who had in an interview in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, April 11 laughed at Dino's bid and described his ambition as a joke. He said further: “When you give Dino that ticket, you know he won’t win in Kogi State. Why would Kogi people say they would vote for a candidate like Dino? Are we joking?” the governor queried.

However, in a statement released via his social media pages, Dino took the opportunity to reveal to Nigerians that Wike was his biggest ally going into the governorship elections in 2019.

He noted that Wike not only supported him with words, but he was also his biggest financier.

"I want Nigerians to know that Wike was my biggest supporter when I ran for governorship in 2019. Wike was my biggest supporter financially and even otherwise."

"Apart from funding me to the tune of hundreds of dollars in the governorship elections in 2019, he provided his private jet to drop me in Kogi on the day of the primary."

"That is to show the magnitude of support and belief in me in 2019. So the man who saw competence, who saw capacity and even invested his money in that project - today in 2023, he is saying that I am not qualified, and the only explanation for that is psychotic disorderliness. The only explanation for that is mental fatigue. The only explanation for that is that he is having some problems upstairs."
