Kidnappers demand N20m for ex-U.S. soldier | The Nation

The gunmen who abducted a retired officer of the United States Army, Major Jide Ijadare, has demanded N20m to free him.

A family source told The Nation on the telephone that the kidnappers made contact with one of them.

The ex-soldier and one of his workers were kidnapped on Tuesday at his palm-oil factory in Ijan-Ekiti, Gbonyin council area of Ekiti State.

The assailants shot dead a contractor during the attack.

Barely 48 hours earlier, a director in Gbonyin council area, Mr David Jejelowo was shot dead by assailants.

Police spokesman Sunday Abutu said the command was not aware of any ransom demanded by the abductors.

“We are not aware of any ransom being demanded by the abductors. But our men are in the bush combing everywhere to ensure his release.”
