Kelechi Iheanacho is coming into his own at the right time - Jamie Carragher

The Skysports pundit believes the ex-Man City man is now showing he can be Leicester City’s main man after years of struggle

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Kelechi Iheanacho can be the future for Leicester when Jamie Vardy leaves after the Nigerian continued his impressive scoring streak.

Iheanacho provided an assist and scored the winner as Leicester edged closer towards Champions League qualification with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

The Nigerian has been on a brilliant run of form since this beginning of the year, and Carragher believes the 24-year-old can take over the mantle from Vardy as the Foxes top striker.

Vardy has been Leicester City’s leading striker over the past five years, but the former England international is now in the twilight of his career at the age of 34, and Carragher insists the Foxes already have a replacement in Iheanacho.

"For so long, this team, Leicester, have been spoken about as a Jamie Vardy team. If Vardy’s injured, Leicester will struggle or what about (when Vardy leaves) in two or three years time? How will they replace him,” Carragher said on Skysports.
