The police in katsina have arrested three alleged kidnappers in Unguwar Illiya village in Kafur local government area of Katsina state.

The suspects, Umar Audu, 20; Yusuf Abubakar, 25 and Ussaini Isah,30 are all of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Katsina police command spokesman, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the arrest on Monday.

Isah revealed that the trio was arrested at where they had gone to pick the N150,000.00 ransom they demanded from one Shuaibu Bala who they threatened to kidnap or any of his family member if he refused to pay the money.

SP Isah further revealed" On 29/11/2019 one Shu’aibu Bala, m, aged 36yrs of Gozaki village, Kafur LGA of Katsina state reported at Kafur Division that he has been receiving threat messages through phone call intimidating him to pay the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand (N150,000:00k) or himself or any member of his family risk being kidnapped by the callers.

"Consequently, on 04/12/2019 at about 17:00hrs, Operation Puff Adder led by DPO Kafur Division succeeded in smashing the syndicate at Unguwar Iliya village of Kafur LGA of Katsina state when they went to collect the ransom of N150,000 as demanded.

"The kidnappers arrested are Umar Audu, m, aged 20yrs; Yusuf Abubakar, m, aged 25 years; and Ussaini Isah, m, aged 30 years all from Igabi LGA of Kaduna state."

The police spokesman added that twenty - three cows were also recovered from the three suspects, adding that investigation was still in progress on the case.

In a related incident, the police also arrested a 20-year-old man, Aliyu Sani of Sabuwar Unguwar quarters, Katsina, for allegedly being a member of a kidnap syndicate.

SP Isah gave circumstances surrounding Sani's arrest "On 4/12/2019 at about 20:00hrs, based on a tip-off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Aliyu Sani, m, aged 20yrs of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, Katsina, a member of notorious kidnap syndicate terrorizing Katsina metropolitan area. Some times in April 2019, suspect conspired with one Abdulrahaman Danfillo, aged 25yrs, of the same address (now at large) deceived and abducted one Abubakar Muhammad, m, aged 12 years, and Aliyu Ahmed, m, aged 10yrs both of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, Katsina and took them to Bandits at Gora forest, Batsari LGA of Katsina state as kidnapped victims. The father of Abubakar Muahammad was compelled to pay the sum N150,000:00k as ransom before his eventual release while the victim Aliyu Ahmed escaped from the den of the kidnappers in Batsari.

The investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, six armed robbery suspects have also been arrested in Mani local government area of the state.

They were arrested on 26, November 2019 shortly after they allegedly attacked the house of one Hussaini Adamu,30 and other several houses at Magami village in the council area where they robbed residents of various valuables estimated over N300,000.00.

SP Isah added"On 26/11/2019 at about 20:00hrs, based on a tip-off, the Command succeeded in busting a syndicate of armed robbers terrorizing Mani LGA of Katsina state and its environs.

"Nemesis caught up with the hoodlums when they attacked the house of one Hussaini Adamu, m, aged 30yrs of Magami village, Mani LGA of Katsina and several other houses and robbed them of their belongings which include mobile phones, money, food items and other valuables worth N300,000:00k.

"In the course of the investigation the following suspects were arrested: Suleiman Musa, m, aged 20yrs of Magami village, Mani LGA of Katsina state; Bilya Sani, m, aged 25yrs of Kauyen Fage village, Mani LGA of Katsina state; Musbahu Saidu, m, aged 25yr of Samaru village, Mani LGA of Katsina state ; Abdullahi Ado, m, aged 25yrs of Jirga village, Mani LGA of Katsina state; Umar Abdullahi, alias “Kaura”, m, aged 25yrs of Izalawa Quarters, Mani LGA of Katsina state and Hassan Sa’idu, m, aged 18yrs of Marina Quarters, Mani LGA of Katsina state.

"Exhibits recovered from the syndicate include one Boxer Motorcycle with reg. no. QB 548 MAN, four goats, food items, and sticks. Suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and several other related crimes in the area. Investigation is ongoing."
