The Katsina State Hisbah Board destroyed over 120 cartons of seized alcoholic drinks in Funtua as part of its ongoing crackdown on activities contrary to Islamic teachings and public morality.

The destruction on Thursday, November 13, 2025, was led by D.C. Bashir Lawal Balarabe, the commander of the Hisbah Board in Dandume Local Government Area, with officials from the Funtua zone present.

The team was also visited by the State Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, C.G. Sheikh Malam Aminu Usman (Abu-Ammar), PhD, who came to oversee the enforcement activity.

Officials stated that the alcohol was confiscated during routine operations targeting the illegal consumption, distribution, and trafficking of intoxicants forbidden under Islamic law.

Hisbah authorities emphasised that this action was crucial in combating what they see as increasing moral decline in the region.

During the event, several Islamic scholars sternly warned against alcohol consumption, reaffirming that intoxicants are prohibited in Islam and contribute to societal harm.

After the destruction, Sheikh Abu-Ammar praised the ongoing efforts against alcohol-related issues since the Hisbah was reinstated by Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State.

He commended the governor’s timely support for strengthening the institution to address moral challenges affecting communities across the state.

The event was attended by senior Hisbah officials from Funtua zone and notable Islamic scholars from various parts of the region.
