A week after an Igbo delegation, led by first republic parliamentarian and Aviation Minister, Mbazulike Amaechi, met with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to seek the release of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, the Coalition of Northern Groups has also sought audience with the President on the matter.

The CNG alleged that Kanu was responsible for the “chain of ugly events, collective national distractions, destruction, harassment and killing of innocent northerners, violent separatism and hateful campaign since 2017”.

This was contained in a letter addressed to the President, titled, ‘Request for an audience to present the case for Northerners violated and killed in series of attacks incited and coordinated by Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB leadership’, and signed by a representative of the group and displaced families, Dr Nastura Ashir Shariff.
