Kano govt declares Wednesday public holiday

The governor of Kano state, Abba Yusuf has declared Wednesday, Oct, 4, as public holiday to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

This was made known in a statement released by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Baba Dantiye.

Dantiye stated that the governor encourages the people to use the occasion to reflect on the teachings of the noble Prophet and apply them in their lives.

He also advised the people to pray for peace and prosperity to reign in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.

He said: “We pray to Allah to see us through this tough period and bless us with bumper harvest in this rainy season and the coming dry farming season."
