Kano govt approves N854m for mass wedding; Nigerians react

The Kano state government has announced the approval of N854 million for the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative.

The state's Executive Council also approved N700m as payment of school fees for 7,000 indigenes of the state studying at Bayero University Kano (BUK).

This moves he believes will cushion the effects of the current economy following the removal of fuel subsidy.

In a post shared on his Twitter page, Governor Kabir Yusuf mentioned the rehabilitation of 3 pedestrian bridges at Bayero University Kano Old Campus, Aminu Kano College of Legal and Islamic Studies, and the Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education.

This initiative is part of the plan issued by Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday, August 24.

He wrote;

“As part of our efforts to cushion the biting effects of our current economic reality; The Kano State Executive Council under my leadership has today, approved the release of the sum of Seven Hundred Million Naira to settle tuition fees for 7000 students of Bayero University Kano (BUK).

“Further details of the initiative will be made available in due course."

@SheiduTijani1: Ur excellency, I want to draw ur attention to waste management around Kano cities. Changes are yet to be seen in terms of timely evacuations. Kindly do something as heap of waste dumps & drainages cleared awaiting evacuation normally found it's way back in drainages.
