Kano State Government has banned Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, a controversial Islamic preacher over alleged violence-inciting sermons.

The mosque which belongs to the Islamic leader located in Gwale area has also been shut down.

On Wednesday, February 3, 2021, the Kano commissioner for information, Muhammad Garba, indicated that the decision to ban the cleric was to ensure peace and avoid unnecessary religious crisis.

According to Daily Nigeria, Kabara was accused of slandering the companions of Holy Prophet Muhammad.

He was said to have engaged the Sunni Muslim clerics in the state in a fierce battle as well as openly showing interest in the Shiite group.

The State government has directed the state commissioner of police and security agencies to ensure compliance.
