Kano: Govt bans use of mannequins to display clothes

Mannequins Mannequins

The Kano State government has banned the use of mannequins for the display of clothes by tailors, boutique owners and supermarkets in the state.

The Kano State Hisbah Board's head, Harun Ibn-Sina made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

According to him, Islam frowns on the use of mannequins and for that reason, the Hisbah would embark on an enlightenment campaign in the state. He also added that the use of mannequins contradicts the teaching of the predominant religion in the state.

“Hisbah prohibits the use of mannequins at shops, commercial and private residences and other public places.

“This violates Islamic provisions, it is also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public, all these are against Islam," he said.

He, however, noted that the ban does not include headless mannequins.
