Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has called out some Ghanaian actors for demanding the same fee as Nigerian stars on movie sets. BuyMaps

The actor, who is currently in Ghana alongside Patience Ozokwo and others for a production, made the statement during an interview with a Ghanaian media outlet.

Kanayo revealed that it has become common for some Ghanaian actors to pressure producers to match the fees paid to their Nigerian counterparts.

He said he was displeased by the attitude, stressing that he was one of the founding fathers of Nollywood.

According to him, the same situation played out on the project he is about to shoot in Ghana.

He threatened to mention names of the Ghanaian actors involved but was persuaded not to.

The veteran warned them against comparing themselves to him, noting that hierarchy exists even in heaven.

He advised them to negotiate their own fees instead of equating themselves to him.

He said, “I am KOK. I was among the founding fathers. You now wake up in Ghana. They called KOK to come and act in Ghana; you, Ghanaian boy, will now insist they pay you the same fees as me. It happens even up to today. There is hierarchy even in heaven. The movie industry has hierarchy.

“Negotiate what you want to be paid. Don’t equate yourself with me. Tell your Ghanaian brothers and sisters, it is not your business what they pay Nigerian actors. Go and negotiate your own, receive it and go and rest; and then you will have peace in your life, otherwise I will invoke Amadioha in Nigeria”. BuyMaps
