The Lagos State Government has commenced the second day of rigorous enforcement operations at Oshodi Market, continuing its crackdown on banned single-use plastics.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Friday, who shared a video from an operation involving KAI officials against single-use plastics.
He said officials seized significant quantities of Styrofoam packs and disposable cups that were still being illegally traded, despite clear directives, advocacy efforts, and a moratorium of over a year.
"Let this be unequivocal: there is zero tolerance for environmental sabotage in Lagos. Yesterday’s warnings at Alakoro Market and today’s seizures at Oshodi prove we are systematically eliminating these destructive materials from all commercial hubs," Wahab said.
