Wednesday, June 12, a day to commemorate Democracy Day, has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry and released on Tuesday, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the minister said, "As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity."
Tunji-Ojo emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to positive reforms to revive the nation's economy and enhance security, while encouraging Nigerians to uphold the principles of democratic governance.
The Minister also called on Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to appreciate the progress made and look forward to a better future for Nigeria's democracy.
