On Thursday, a significant deployment of security forces, including personnel from the Nigeria Police Force’s Area F Division, was visible in Lagos as protesters started converging at the Ikeja underbridge to commemorate June 12 Democracy Day.
The crowd, comprising civil society organisations and pro-democracy advocates, was rallying to express discontent with the escalating economic hardships and growing insecurity during President Bola Tinubu’s tenure.
At the time of this report, the demonstration had yet to formally begin, with law enforcement maintaining a vigilant stance.
