Journalists are also to blame for Nigeria's problems - Uzor Kalu and Channels TV host Maupe clash on TV

Chief Whip of the Senate Orji Uzor Kalu was schooled by Channels Television Sunrise Daily host, Maupe Ogun-Yusuf after he stated emphatically that journalists are part of the problem affecting Nigeria's democracy.

Uzor Kalu who was speaking on some of the challenges affecting Nigeria's democracy said that journalists have a big role in where Nigeria's democracy is at the moment because they don't report what people really say.

However, reacting to the comment of the former Abia State governor, Maupe Ogun-Yusuf said that journalists aren't the problem while she noted that some journalists have even paid the ultimate prize.

Orji Uzor Kalu said: "You, journalists, are also one of the problems of our democracy because sometimes you don't report what people really say."

Maupe Ogun-Yusuf responds: "I take very strong exception to that when you say that journalists are the problem. journalists made huge sacrifices for this democracy. Some journalists slept in journalists lost their lives to bring this democracy to life. But let me move past this."
