The Peoples Democratic Party Expanded Caucus in Jigawa State has expressed strong appreciation for what it described as revitalisation efforts led by the party’s National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and National Executive Committee.
This development was contained in a communique issued to journalists by the party’s state Publicity Secretary, Umar Kyari, at the close of a meeting held on Saturday in Dutse, the state capital.
Hundreds of PDP executives, including the state leader of the party, ex-gov Sule Lamido, stalwarts, and members from the 287 wards across all 27 local government areas thronged Dutse for the meeting.
The communique applauded the coordinated steps taken by all national organs to reposition the PDP for renewed political vigour ahead of the upcoming elections.
“We commend the NWC, BOT, NEC, and other party organs for the arrangements already in place for the forthcoming national convention,” it stated, describing this as a vital move “based on the provisions of the Constitution, rules, and regulations of the party.”
Moreso, the caucus reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to Jigawa PDP’s leadership under Lamido and the State Working Committee led by Babandi Gumel.
“This reaffirmation signals firm grassroots support and cohesion within the party ranks,” it added.
Members of the caucus also thanked the National Assembly members from the state for championing key developmental projects and empowerment programmes.
“Their efforts were recognised as crucial to ongoing progress and party goodwill,” the communique stated.
In a strong call to uphold electoral integrity, the meeting therefore urged the National Independent Electoral Commission to sanction three of its staff implicated in misconduct during the recent Babura/Garki Federal Constituency by-election in the state, describing this “as a necessary steps for safeguarding free and fair elections.”
Furthermore, the PDP family commended the relentless efforts of party members, whose resilience ensured remarkable participation of the party during the recently conducted Garki/Babura federal constituency by-election in the state.
Also, the communique encouraged members of the party to maintain calm and support decisions from the National Leadership as Nigeria’s political landscape evolves.
“All members of the party are urged to remain calm and support all decisions of the party’s National Leadership as political events unfold in the country,” the communique emphasised.
Similarly, the caucus called on all PDP members in Jigawa State to continue their unflinching support for the party’s initiatives, vowing to consolidate gains and prepare for future electoral contests.
The communique noted that the expanded caucus will keep engaging with party organs and grassroots units to sustain momentum and inclusiveness in party affairs throughout the state.
The communique concluded with an appeal for continued solidarity and constructive engagement within the party to achieve shared goals for Jigawa and Nigeria at large.
