Jengebe: Kidnappers were offered money not to release abducted girls - Matawalle reveals

Governor Bello Matawalle has revealed how the 317 students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talatu-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara were freed from their abductors.

In his address to the freed Jangebe school girls in Gusau, the state capital, the Governor noted that whiles Government was negotiating with the kidnappers, some unnamed persons offered money to the armed men to halt the release the children.

According to him, he would reveal the mystery behind the abduction of the girls. He also warned persons instigating criminals to be mindful of their deeds.

He noted that the security agencies in the country have been notified with regards to the matter and investigations will commence soon.

“I didn’t sleep for four days. We worked hard for days to ensure the safe return of the girls to their families. We are using kinetic and non-kinetic approaches, and the non-kinetic is working for us. If not, we wouldn’t have successfully negotiated the release of these girls,” Matawalle said.
